Analysis of Fire Debris
In 2018, the Office of the WV Assistant Attorney General retained Dr. Jackson to provide an expert opinion about the State Fire Marshal's laboratory reports, which had helped convict Jason Lively in 2005. Based partially on Dr. Jackson's analyses and reports, the lead prosecutor in the 2015 trial filed affidavits to have Mr. Lively's conviction overturned. In 2020, Mr. Lively's motion to vacate was unopposed and he walked out of prison a free man.
